The task before The Bar Association of San Francisco was to secure space that would allow us to serve both our members and the greater San Francisco community for at least the next decade, and Dan was with us every step of the way. The demands were significant: downtown space (because we could not be outside that area and serve our constituencies effectively) at the best possible price in a tightening market.
Dan thoroughly analyzed our options, initially outlining a long list of properties that would fit our basic needs. He then worked with us to narrow them intelligently and effectively through extensive site visits and consultations with architects and engineers—a team that he proposed and which was an essential part of the success of the project.
Dan also evaluated our needs creatively. Under our previous business model, our organization rented conference space by the hour and day. Dan presented an analysis that made clear why it would be in our best business interest to include such space as part of our lease. We now house our own state-of-the-art conference center, which has lowered our overall occupancy costs and provided an enhanced sense of community for our members.
From beginning to end, Dan was tireless, tenacious, and tough. Once we had narrowed our options to three, he drove hard with each of the parties to get solid terms into place for comparison. The deal we struck was a remarkable one for what had become a seller’s market. Even after our lease was signed and our landlords wished to introduce additional terms, Dan stepped in to smooth things behind the scenes and helped ensure that those terms were very favorable to us.
Long story short, Dan clearly loves what he does and gives it his all. You would be hard pressed to find a more devoted, talented, and seasoned commercial broker.

Recognized nationally for innovation and leadership, VLSP is the largest and only fully comprehensive provider of legal services to poor people in San Francisco. Each year, thousands of clients receive assistance from VLSP and more than 1,500 VLSP volunteers provide the equivalent of at least $10 million in pro bono legal services. Undeniably, VLSP is an indispensable part of the civil justice system in San Francisco.
